Inspired by the ʻĀina Aloha Economic Futures declaration and Huliau Statement, Hawaiian Airlines May Day 2021: Mākaʻikaʻi will take viewers beyond the aesthetic pleasures of song, dance and storytelling. The program supports an ʻĀina Aloha Economic Future by having viewers experience "mākaʻikaʻi", visits to endeared places, shared by "kamaʻāina", those who are deeply rooted in these places. Enjoying mele, hula, and moʻolelo—in the ways only kamaʻāina can share—promotes an economic future of Hawaiʻi that finds success only through "aloha ʻāina", a deep and abiding love for the places and people of Hawaiʻi.
