It’s a time for all of us—kamaliʻi, ʻōpio, mākua, and kūpuna—to enjoy learning together. Familiar lāhui friends will be sharing with us a wide spectrum of fun cultural riches. This session features kilo practitioner Kalei Nuʻuhiwa. This is a lesson for the ʻohana about the practice of observing makani (wind). The presentation touches upon the names of winds in Hawaiʻi and the season of winds, and ends with an activity for the whole family to engage with the wind! Supplies to bring – 8.5×11 sheet of paper, String (jut or yarn), 1 disposable chopstick, flagging tape or a trash bag, scotch tape, scissors, hole punch (optional), and color pens.
